Today I have officially launched my third book, first fiction, My Zombie Body. I started it during National Novel Writing Month in 2009, affectionately known as NaNoWriMo. After getting through part of the story, I went away from it for too long. I finally picked it back up, wrote the rest, edited it (over and over), and passed along to others for feedback and some editing. Today, October 18, 2011, it is now released on the world in digital form. The paperback will be coming in November (those take a little more work).
Imagine your body no longer listened to you. You were trapped, experiencing the world in a new way: without any control over your actions. It’s a world filled with sleep deprivation, mind games, and unthinkable acts.
Welcome to my world.
To celebrate and promote the book, there is going to be a 24 hour giveaway for launch day, and all you need to do is head to the special link, https://mariolurig.com/myzombiebody/ before midnight Pacific Time. I’ve put together a special promotional version of the book that includes a note from the author (me) with some suggestions on what to do if they enjoyed the free book. Speaking of promoting it, I’ve also purchased a press release, some text ads online, and will distribute links to the book to relevant audiences: online communities. For this book, I’m going to try my luck with the subreddits /r/zombies and /r/books on Reddit.com. I’ve also sent it along to a popular science fiction podcast, where it has already been mentioned by the hosts. Finally, I’ve even setup a copy on mininova (bittorrent), so that those who miss the giveaway and are prone to only look for ‘free’, will find the promotional edition. After all, a great book that not even hipsters know about is a sad situation.
The novella is available from MyZombieBody.com directly (using FetchApp and PayPal with micro-transactions), Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Lulu, and the iBookstore. It includes the original edition and in most places, the Clean Edition. What’s that, you ask? It’s a version I edited to remove or sanitize curse words. It’s not my original vision, but if someone feels that strongly about cursing, then I’d like to give them the opportunity to enjoy the story without them (and of course, still buy a copy).
I hope you enjoy. For more info, check out the website I created for the book as well as the amazing cover artwork in full glory over on MyZombieBody.com. What do you think of the website (leave the answer in the comments below)?
